Waiting on Wednesday #60

Waiting on Wednesday

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I fell in love with Lauren Morrill when I read Meant To Be so I've been dying to read The Trouble with Destiny.

It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey...

With her trusty baton and six insanely organized clipboards, drum major Liza Sanders is about to take Destiny by storm—the boat, that is. When Liza discovered that her beloved band was losing funding, she found Destiny, a luxury cruise ship complete with pools, midnight chocolate buffets, and a $25,000 spring break talent show prize.

Liza can’t imagine senior year without the band, and nothing will distract her from achieving victory. She’s therefore not interested when her old camp crush, Lenny, shows up on board, looking shockingly hipster-hot. And she’s especially not interested in Russ, the probably-as-dumb-as-he-is-cute prankster jock whose ex, Demi, happens be Liza’s ex–best friend and leader of the Athenas, a show choir that’s the band’s greatest competition.

But it’s not going to be smooth sailing. After the Destiny breaks down, all of Liza’s best-laid plans start to go awry. Liza likes to think of herself as an expert at almost everything, but when it comes to love, she’s about to find herself lost at sea.

Have you already read a book by Lauren Morrill? What do you think about The Trouble with Destiny?

  1. I read Being Sloane Jacobs first, and I was initially skeptical due to the highly unlikely plot, but it eventually sucked me in and won me over. I was so charmed that I didn't care about the plausibility of it actually working.

Meant to Be didn't really work for me. It had some really cute moments, but there were a few things that really didn't work. I'm still looking forward to this new book, and I'm hoping I will enjoy it.

  2. I'm not a big reader of contemporary fiction, but this does sound pretty good! And I agree with Ashley, I love the cover!! I hope you love this once you get it! :)

    Here's my WoW!

  3. I've always wanted to read a Lauren Morrill book! This one sounds awesome and I love contemporary! Great pick this week :) Check out my Wow:

  5. I have no idea that she's also the writer of Meant to Be (I really need to read that) I'm waiting for this as well. I mean, seriously, who wouldn't? With that cover and that blurb! :)

  6. I still have to read Being Sloane Jacobs, but I hope I'll get to it soon.
I'm sorry you didn't like Meant to Be as much, hopefully Destiny will be better for you :)

  7. Yeah, the cover is really pretty, but I understand that not everybody likes contemporary.

  8. Do it! Lauren Morrill is amazing!

  9. Yep, she also wrote Meant to Be. And yeah, I totally get what you mean. This cover is gorgeous!
