Book Description:
It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

From the moment I saw this beautiful cover, I knew this is one of the books I can't wait to get my fingers on. The green dress just draws you in, and you need to know what is it about. Since I love everything that includes space or other planets or aliens, I was really excited to read it.

I expected this book to be about space ships, traveling to other fancy planets and hanging out with aliens, or something like that anyway. My guesses weren't even close, instead of all that, I got a book about survival. First few chapters happened on a space ship Icarus, and then Icarus crashed. Lilac and Tarver, our main characters, survived the crash and landed on a strange planet. The whole book after that is about their survival and trying to figure out a way to go home.

My first thoughts about the book were that I would probably fall asleep while reading it, but boy was I wrong. I loved it! I know, survival books aren't really that great or interesting, but I assure you, this one is amazing. When you add to it a fact that there were only Lilac and Tarver in 90% of the book, it's really freakin' awesome. I admire Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner for being able to write a book like this. These Broken Stars is full of originality and great ideas.

I appreciate the dual POV as it showed us how both, Lilac and Tarver felt in every single moment, it also helped us connect more with them. They start off with feeling mutual attraction, but neither of them wants to admit they like the other. Lilac is a daughter of the richest man in the universe, while Tarver is a war hero and below her in the social circles. Tarver doesn't want to admit that he could like a girl like Lilac, rich and spoiled socialite who only thinks about the latest fashion, at least that's the way he sees her, when really, Lilac is strong and tough. She only acts the way she acts because it's easier for her and because everyone expects nothing less of her. But being alone on a planet can change a lot and Lilac gets sick of pretending to be something she isn't and that's when they start revealing their feelings for each other. Their relationship was intense, but nothing was forced. I felt it was even slow in some parts, but I liked it nonetheless.

I really enjoyed reading These Broken Stars. The romance was super sweet, add to it a really interesting plot with lots of twists, and great world building, and you've got an amazing book. I'm really sad that we won't see more of Tarver and Lilac in the next book in the Starbound trilogy, as it will be more a companion novel than a sequel, but I'm still very excited to read it. I highly recommend this one to everyone.
