From Goodreads:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself--and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

My review:
Firstly, I must say, I lovelovelove the cover. It's simply amazing! I don't think I've ever seen a cover this beautiful.

Overall I did enjoy the book, I like the idea of dystopian Bachelor themed book, even though there are some things that are left unsaid.

America, what to say about her. We don't actualy know her very good, she is very undecided, and she never knows what she wants.

I liked both Aspen and Maxon. You can see that Aspen really loves her and that he whishes the best for her, while Maxon is getting to know her and finds himself falling for America even though he knows in what kind of situation she is.

I liked the whole romance part, but I felt the dystopian parts with rebels are left unfinished. I feel like they're just mentioned to make the romance more tense. I hope there will be more of it in the sequel.

One more thing I was unsatisfied with is the ending. It is cut of just when the things started to be really interesting. I guess now we just have to wait for the sequel to find out what happens next.

  1. I am so glad you liked this one too! I really did and I know there were some pretty bad rating out there for it, which makes me sad.

I agree though that it seemed liked just when it was getting really good and more was happening that it was cut off. But, that makes me want to read the next one even more!

    Great review! :)

  2. Worst cliffhanger ending ever! UGH. Haha. But way to ensure I'll read the sequel, I guess. I liked this one, too. I really fell for Maxon, but I was somewhat torn for Aspen, although I didn't care for him overall. I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, but it was a solid read!
